Looking for some life inspiration? Ironically I found some at The Lost Kitchen. This is about a life well lived and loved. It wasn’t always easy but it’s beautiful! This title, The Lost Kitchen stuck out at me while roaming Discovery+ late one evening. We all feel a bit lost sometimes in what we are doing with our life and if you don’t feel it you may be missing something, maybe a new road to go down; so check yourself. It’s discovering and learning about folks like this that bring me “somewhere” for a minute.

I have never met Erin but I can imagine her energy swirl and it’s clear she spreads inspiration. Folks that follow their heart & soul make their lives happen. I know it wasn’t easy at times but she clearly loves what she does. It probably helps too that she has one passion not 1,000 so she can do that one just right.

The Lost Kitchen is a unique restaurant in Freedom, Maine. To Erin, growing up in Freedom felt nothing close to freedom and it was all she could do to get out of it. I am sure many know that feeling including myself, I grew up in a sweet town called Hope Valley. While Growing up in that town everyone called it Hopeless Valley and I believed it. I couldn’t wait to get out the Valley. I do not feel that way about my town anymore but that’s a different story for a different day.

Erin Cooks in the Kitchen

Erin does not have a five star degree and that is why I find her even more amazing. She is deeply connected to what she was truly meant to do. At the end of the day that’s all you really need unless your want to be a doctor, then you should have a degree I kind of think. Anyway.. I prefer That higher self guiding the way. Bring it, I say! I learn a great deal from mistakes, in fact 95% of the time it’s the only way my brain can learn something. I believe this dish cooked by Erin was first made Improperly. That “fail” turned into a gooey yummy mess that is now a dessert staple in her kitchen, my kind of discovery right there. I myself have had many many fails in the kitchen, I reluctantly wrote about one here: https://bitsandbobsblog.org/old-rhode-island-recipe-books/ Look for some future posts using my grandmother’s Old Recipe Books. Here is a post about an amazing dip I did do well years ago! https://bitsandbobsblog.org/garden-avocado-dip/

Dessert by accident

I won’t spoil all there is to know about The Lost Kitchen. The Restaurant is run by Erin and her staff of woman and maybe one brave man. These women grow lots of the food and flowers used daily. They appear to be highly connected to this beautiful earth we live on, using what’s in season and what looks best that day. Erin works with an abundance of local farmers and her and her gals spread beauty wherever they go.

Reviews
Finding Freedom, Erin French

In the end Erin French found her freedom in a place she never thought she would and that is a BEAUTIFUL THING!

A lot of Maine is done Old School and that is why someday I wish to live there. Most local campgrounds in Maine require you to call or send a postcard to reserve your spot. The Lost Kitchen has adopted that same policy. You send in a Postcard in April and hope you get picked.
